Description
STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC CHILDREN'S TOY TEAWARE, LOT OF 25, including a partial set of two cups, three saucers, three plates, and covered sugar, all in teal with pattern of "753" or "MAY", having a central vignette of a girl with an apron full of eggs standing in the garden, surrounded by floral borders. Marks include "C.A. & SONS / ENGLAND / MAY 753", "CHARLES ALLERTON & SONS / ENGLAND", and "STAFFORDSHIRE / ENGLAND". Charles Allerton & Sons, Longton, Staffordshire, England. Late 19th/early 20th century. 4 5/8" HOA covered sugar.
Ten pieces undamaged; one cup with two small chips along rim and 1 7/8" hairline; one plate, two saucers, one cup, and sugar with few small glaze flakes on rims; one plate and one saucer, each with one small chip along outer foot rim; one plate with 1/2" chip along rim; one plate with 1" hairline; one cup and one saucer, each with 1/4" chip on rim; one cup with 3/4" hairline; one saucer with moderate discoloration, one chip along rim, and several hairlines with one approximately 3 1/4" in length; one saucer with 1/4" hairline; one cup with three small impressions on foot rim, likely from manufacturing.
