Antique Qing Dynasty Chinese Scroll Painting of five female figure sitting in a garden on silk. On figure sits under the shade of a sherry blossom tree and strums the GuQin stringed instrument. The Guqin is a seven-string Chinese melodic instrument. Favored by pedagogues and literati as an instrument of great delicacy and refinement. It is referred to as "the father of Chinese music" or "the instrument of the sages". Semi-cursive calligraphy with an official iron-red seal is on the top right section. Very well preserved and truly a pleasure to behold. This scroll is attached to a single di-gan rod and upper tian gan rod where a ribbon is affixed so that it can be hung. Zhou-tou knobs make it easy to roll this painting up for safe transport.
