Partridge Family Papers. A huge archive of material relating to the “Partrigg” family, who according to a genealogy which is included, emigrated Berwick in 1644, changing their name to Partridge and settling in Hartford, Connecticut and eventually Hadley, Massachusetts. There are eight, Civil War dated letters from John Partridge to his father, mother, sister and cousin with war content and interesting reflections on camp life. Also includes a letter to John from “Lallie”. There are two early family cabinet photographs, 1865 copy of a family member’s will, two printed sermons from a family members 1812 ordination and his 1822 Thanksgiving remarks. There is a carte-de-vis photograph of John Nelson Partridge (1884) and copies of news articles relating to his appointment as New York State Superintendent of Public works and finally a typed letter from the Railroad Gazette, November 16, 1900, to Partridge, praising his accomplishments as Superintendent of Public Works.
