In 2 binders, including an archive of 16 (1862-63) letters from an Oshkosh WI woman to her New England relatives containing emotional war related content from the perspective of a farm woman, most with their covers, many letters with typed or handwritten full or partial transcriptions, most with written content narratives or comments, many with patriotic letterhead, together with 28 unaccompanied covers including 2 Adams Express, together with 4 (1847-50) letters- 3 from a Joseph Osborn regarding South Seas trading, and another regarding temperance, a post war reconstruction letter, and a WWII letter regarding the surrender of the Japanese.

The letters in varying sizes, some in multiple pages, 10 accompanied by their original transmittal cover, varied subject matter, binders measure 12.5x10in., in generally good condition with expected wear and varying degrees of issues given age and use.

Provenance: Part of a civil war collection of a Sullivan County, NY gentleman 90 years young. The collection spans 50 years and was acquired from shows, dealers and private collections throughout the east coast and midwest.
