Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Inca culture, ca. 1100 to 1532 CE. A finely woven textile panel, comprised of camelid (alpaca or llama) wool fibers presenting a striated pattern of red, black, and white hues with tassels at the corners. This cloth was probably used to wrap a bundle of coca leaves and other personal effects - the owner would have tied the package together using the tassels. Size: 16" W x 15" H (40.6 cm x 38.1 cm); longest tassels measure ~ 7.5" L (19 cm)
