Description
Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Incan Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A lovely textile coca bag comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of crimson, olive green, wheat, maroon, coffee, and beige. The square bag has an opening along the top periphery as well as a twisted textile suspension cord. Each bag panel boasts dozens of thin vertical stripes in varying colors, with three crimson-hued columns displaying a repeating slender bar-shaped motif using pale-yellow thread. A gorgeous and intact example from ancient Peru! Size: 8.5" W x 9.25" H (21.6 cm x 23.5 cm).
