**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador/Colombia, Carchi-Narino, Capuli Complex, ca. 850 to 1200 CE. A lovely duo of hand-built terracotta bowls, each with a stemmed base, a shallow dish, and a thin rim. Both bowls are detailed with abstract linear motifs on the exterior in the signature Narino negative-resist technique, each band displaying a black hue atop an umber ground. The vessel displaying fewer linear details has a repeating series of grooved notches along the upper rim. A wonderful pair from the ancients of South America! Size of largest (no rim grooves): 4.125" H (10.5 cm).

Condition
Both bowls have expected age-commensurate surface wear, small chips and pitting holes to feet and bodies, and fading to pigmentation, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and nice mineral deposits throughout.
