Central Asia, India, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A charming cast bronze statuette of the goddess Radha, consort of Krishna. She is depicted here in a dynamic pose, leaning forward slightly, one hand extended before her in the Gyan mudra, with the index finger touching the thumb and the other three fingers straight. Her other hand is in the same mudra, but extended out behind her. This mudra is designed to enhance concentration and memory. She stands atop a multi-tiered, lotus throne and her form is that of a beautiful woman wearing a skirt, her hair pulled up on top of her head. Time and touch have given her a beautiful, rich dark green patina with sparkling hints of the original bronze color underneath. Size: 3" W x 5.4" H (7.6 cm x 13.7 cm)
