**Originally Listed At $125**

West Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba peoples, ca. early 20th century CE. A tall wooden Ere Ibeji figure standing upon an integral circular base, hand-carved to represent a deceased female twin, and adorned with scarification marks across the cheeks and forehead. It has an elaborately-upswept coiffure colored with natural violet-blue indigo pigment. The body is comprised of prominent breasts, separated arms, short legs, and a bulging abdomen; the recessed areas are further detailed with red cinnabar. A lustrous brown patina covers the majority of exposed wooden surfaces. Size: 7.5" H (19 cm).
