Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A fascinating whistle in the form of a monkey-like figure with anthropomorphic details, including a round, brimmed cap, a bowl held in one hand, and a pack on his back. The body of the monkey is squat, with short limbs, his legs serving as two of the three legs of the vessel (a paddle-like tail is the third). His face is composed of thin bars of clay that form a pouting, wide mouth, a pig-like snout, and large eyes with heavy eyebrows. Functional and loud! Size: 4" W x 5.35" H (10.2 cm x 13.6 cm)
