This is the Hogarth Press first printing, 1938, of Virginia Woolf's essays on war, pacifism, feminism, etc., titled "Three Guineas" (329 pages). The yellow cloth cover is stained but secure, with a straight and soundly attached spine, and with no looseness to the front or back covers. The gilt lettering is somewhat faded but clearly legible. The foxed and sunned front inside cover spread has an attractive bookplate, that of Elisabeth and Louis Lang. There are no other stamps or attachments in the book. There are many pencil checks to the body copy, but no ink or other indelible marks. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages. The 5 photo illustrations are unfaded and clean, but there is some foxing to the adjacent pages, as there is to some page edges. Most page faces have no foxing and no other stains.
