Europe, Spain, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A wonderful trio of hand-thrown terracotta bowls, each with an earthy orange glaze covering the bodies while creamy yellow floral and tendril motifs provide a nice chromatic contrast to the darker surface. Each bowl has a personalized name in the center of the bowl cavity. The largest bowl has the name "Manuela" written in the center and underlined with four wavy lines; the second-largest bowl has the name "Papa" underlined by a single wavy line; and the smallest bowl has "Pepi" underlined with a right-facing arrow. The glaze for each bowl is heavy, thick, and does not cover the exterior of the bowl beyond the rolled rim in most places. Size of largest bowl: 10.5" W x 3.75" H (26.7 cm x 9.5 cm).

Condition
All bowls have age-commensurate surface wear, fading and loss to yellow glaze, minor losses to glaze and rims, and earthen deposits. Largest bowl has losses to "Manuela" but is still visible. Second-largest bowl has yellow encrustations, glazing craquelure, and loss to "Papa," but name is still visible. Smallest bowl has minor loss to interior wall surface and minor loss to "Pepi," but name is still visible.
