Description
An outstanding 1 1/2 foot tall Egyptian standing wood figure, Late New Kingdom – 3rd Intermediate Period, c. 1200 – 664 BC, standing on a rectangular base, wearing a striated wig with long kilt with vertical ribbing, the sleeves flared and matching kilt with horizontal ribbing. The features are superbly modeled and both arms are pendant at sides, hands in gripped position with holes for placement of object the figure interacted with, perhaps a cart or reigns of an animal. H: 18 3/8 in. (46.5 cm). Extremely well-preserved with attractive mottled surface deposits, although with no remaining paint. Ex Beverly Hills family collection acquired 1940's-1960's by a very well known Hollywood producer; thence by descent.
