A RUSSIAN BRASS REPOUSSE OKLAD MOUNTED OIL ON PANEL ICON OF ST. NICHOLAS, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the oklad with a rococo style scrolling foliate boarder centered by a bearded St. Nicholas holding the book of gospels, gesturing in benediction, and flanked by Mary and Jesus seated on clouds. Height: 8 3/4" Width: 7" Depth: 1 1/4" Provenance: Estate of the late Charles A. and Betti F. Saunders, Houston, Texas.

The oklad is noted with some patina and mild dents, a halo is now lacking, and the paint has some mild losses; otherwise, in good condition; the wear is commensurate with age. Note the panel is constructed of two joined boards and the seam is visible throughout the near center of the painting.
