17th Century Oil on Panel Painting Signed N. Berchem "Serenade of the Animals" . We named this painting because it depicts a man playing the flute while a beautiful woman and the animals are listening to the music. This piece is signed in the bottom left of the art N. Berchem (1620-1683). Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem was a highly esteemed and prolific Dutch Golden Age painter of pastoral landscapes, populated with mythological or biblical figures, but also of a number of allegories and genre pieces. He was a member of the second generation of "Dutch Italianate landscape" painters. There is some thin cracking to the art due to its age but over all the colors are vibrant and framed in a burled wood frame. The art framed measures H 15.25 x W 19.25 and weighs approximately 3.5 lbs. Please refer to all photos. Overall in good condition.
