Hoard of over 450 duplicate aluminum portrait medals commemorating the opening of Tsiolkovsky's eponymous museum. Obverse bears a bust-length 3/4 profile depiction of Tsiolkovsky with his name raised at right side. Reverse features the facade of The Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics at Kaluga, Russia with the date "1967" and a Cyrillic inscription. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857 - 1935) Russian and Soviet rocket scientist and pioneer of the astronautic theory. He considered to be one of the founding fathers of modern rocketry and astronautics. Tsiolkovsky's works later inspired leading Soviet rocket engineers such as Sergei Korolev and Valentin Glushko and contributed to the success of the Soviet space program.
