Description
Pair of World War I era painted brass side drums with period drumsticks. Both feature a black painted background showing the Royal Arms of Great Britain topped by a banner that reads "2nd Btn SCOTS GUARDS". A sphinx atop a banner reading “Egypt” is featured at the bottom. The word “Sevastopol” can be distinguished in the corkscrewing banner to the right. Each bear top and bottom wood rims with painted with a black background, two vertical red strips along the edges, and a white weaving stripe in between. Both retain original tension ropes with leather flaps and period calfskin drum heads. Each drum is accompanied by a pair of period 16.5" long wood drumsticks.

Condition
Flaking with pronounced losses to painted surface and general wear throughout. The batter (top) heads are no-longer stretched and snare (bottom) heads are both split, though the tension ropes remain in good condition. One drumstick is missing an end cap and another has split lengthwise (only half of it remains).
