Description
A silver award medal from the 1900 Paris Olympics, which took place during the Exposition Universelle Internationale de 1900, the World's Fair held in Paris in 1900 to celebrate the new century. One side features the words "Republique Francaise" around an image of Marianne, a national symbol of the French Republic, an allegory of liberty and reason, and a Paris skyline. The other side is a winged Nike victory figure supporting an athlete who holds a torch to the sky. "Exposition Universelle Internationale" rings the edge of the medal, with "1900" above the Nike figure on the right. The rim of the medal is stamped with the cornucopia symbol and the word "Bronze."
