This lot consists of an Original Oil on Canvas Signed 'Aivazovsky' in Cyrillic, done in the style of Ukraine born painter Ivan Aivazovsky (1817 - 1900). Russia. Aivazovsky was a master Russian romantic painter, who specialized in sea scenes and ships. With particular attention to detail, his moonlit nights and portrayal of light are always masterful. This scene has the warm portrayal of the cabin lights and their luminescent reflections from the ship in the foreground, Aivazovsky attended the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, and afterwards was appointed as the chief painter to the Russian Navy. His skill at light is equal to that of any of the Luminists or Romantic painters of the 19th century, and he was widely recognized in his lifetime by fellow artists and collectors.
