This lot consists of an Original Oil on Canvas Painting signed 'I. Levitan' in Cyrillic, in the lower left. Image depicts a river winding through a flat, green and brown landscape with a small cottage and two bare trees at the bend. Also visible are a distant farm and windmill on the horizon under a blue sky with grey clouds rolling in. It is done in the “mood landscape†style of Isaac Ilyitch Levitan (Russian,1860-1900). En verso the number '7000' is written in pencil (possibly a price reference). The unframed canvas measures approx. 18' x 23'.

Canvas is slightly loose on the stretcher with some signs of age including several areas of rubbed paint and small holes around the edges. It would benefit from a light cleaning to bring out the color and detail. This piece has aged nicely as evidenced by the slight crazing visible throughout.
