Egypt, New Kingdom period, 18th Dynasty, Amarna period, reign of Amenhotep IV (Akhenaton), ca. 1360 to 1336 BCE. A vibrant terracotta pottery fragment from the ancient city of Amarna, in hues of periwinkle, citrine, and russet, with repeating patterns of elongated triangles and circular forms being separated by a thick blue band with dark brown border lines and a russet center line. This fragment would have been part of a much larger wheel-thrown clay jar which could have held a myriad of different substances. Size: 3.25" W x 2.75" H (8.3 cm x 7 cm).

This is a fragment of a larger vessel. Wear and fading to pigment and details, with "AMARNA 18th Dy." written in black ink on reverse. Great encrustations and mineral deposits throughout.
