Description
**First Time At Auction**

Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty 1500 to 1077 BCE. A fine pottery vessel that rests on a slightly rounded base that rises to wide shoulders and a short neck. Two flanking strap handles arch up from the shoulder to the rim. A deep russet hue is visible through the rich mineral deposits across the exterior surface. Egyptians often used clay from the Nile River that usually developed a deep red-brown surface when fired, such as this fine example! Size: 7.6" W x 5.5" H (19.3 cm x 14 cm)

Provenance: ex-Orange, California, USA collection of descendent from Philip Mitry, noted antiquarian in Cairo prior to 1951, when he immigrated to the USA
