**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, Amarna Period (18th Dynasty), ca. 1353 to 1336 BCE. Two finely-detailed amulets, one a faience scarab and the other a carved steatite scaraboid, both covered with a clear glaze. The faience scarab, lightweight in form and periwinkle in color, has characteristic insectile features on the top side such as a small triangular head and large folded-back wings. The underside depicts a seated lion with a sun disc above and a crescent below. The smaller carved steatite scaraboid, ovoid in shape and light-brown in color, has a smooth topside with two lateral peripheral bands of miniscule vertical bars. The underside depicts the cartouche of Thutmose III (or Thutmosis III or Thothmes) with the symbolic pick and hoe on either side of the detailed beetle. Both amulets are laterally drilled for suspension. Size of largest (faience scarab): 0.625" L (1.6 cm).

Both items are intact and have age-commensurate surface wear, fading to surface coloration, light earthen deposits within incised details and lateral perforations, and some roughness to undersides.
