Description
Indonesia, Bali or Java, ca. early 20th century CE. A fantastical carved wood mask with bulging almond-shaped eyes with painted pupils and eyelids, a prominent nose with two red nostrils, puffy cheeks, petite ears, full and parted lips which reveal a set of eight white, black, and red teeth, and cream-hued curvilinear scarification marks wrapping around the brow. The mask as a whole is painted jet black, with white and red highlights which give a more grotesque yet realistic appearance. Lucite display stand not included. Size: 6.25" L x 5.625" W x 9" H (15.9 cm x 14.3 cm x 22.9 cm).
