Description
Etruria, northern Italy, Etrusco-Corinthian, ca. 630 to 540 BCE. A near-miniature aryballos of an elegant form with an inverted piriform body, a tubular neck, and a flat rim with a single strap handle. The vase is painted via the black-figure technique with a decorative program that consists of tongues on the shoulder, and a body with a large black encircling band incised with nested semi-circles as well as narrower bands, and frets adorning the flat rim and handle. A very early and attractive example! Size: 1.875" in diameter x 3.375" H (4.8 cm x 8.6 cm)
