Central America, Guatemala, mid to late 20th century CE. Guatemala has a long tradition of colorful festivals where dancers, wearing masks, tell stories about good and evil, religion, and old myths. This mask, depicting El Diablo, is painted red with white and black details, with a fearsome fanged countenance and wide, staring eyes. Size: 6.4" W x 10.75" H (16.3 cm x 27.3 cm)
