Description
Alphonse Alexandre Arson (French, 1822-1882), "Woodcock", gilt bronze sculpture, signed on base "ARSON". Realistically cast gilt bronze figural sculpture depicting a woodcock bird near shoreline with raised feathered wings, focused gaze, signature pointed beak and thin legs standing on a seashell and seaweed covered ground surmounting an oval socle base. Overall approximate height 9.125", width 7.125", depth 6.75".
Condition
Minor red hue to finish in spots. Beak is slightly bent, and lower beak is broken. Missing back leg. Pitting overall. No other visible signs of damage and repair.
