Description
French School, 19th century, "Venus and Cupid", gilt bronze sculpture, apparently unsigned. Figural sculpture depicting a seated winged Venus or Aphrodite in draped gown holding a nude Cupid or Eros in her arms standing on rocks on naturalistic base, as she steps on a snake with open mouth in defense in a gesture of protection. Approximate height 13.4", width 11.2", depth 6.7".
Condition
Small break with repair to serpent neck (see image #5). Minor soiling. No other visible signs of damage or repairs.
