Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 700 to 1470 CE. A brightly colored textile panel comprised of tightly-woven fibers in shades of green, yellow, red, violet, and blue. The composition is comprised of three abstract winged and long-necked bird figures, which are characteristic iconography of Chimu textiles. Mounted on a fabric-lined cardboard backing. Size: 7.5" L x 3.25" W (19 cm x 8.3 cm).
Provenance: private Slavin collection, acquired in Peru and Bolivia between 1971 and 1972
