Description:

288 pp. (32mo) 14x8 cm (5½x3") period speckled calf, gilt ruled spine with morocco spine label lettered in gilt.

This work was initially published in Hartford in 1813, with a number of other immediate editions in N. Y. , Trenton, and Philadelphia. This Baltimore edition apparently was the first to include an account of hostilities in an expanded 60 page section. According to Howes, "some copies (of the Baltimore edition) sent to Washington, were burned by the British."

Condition

Wear and rubbing to binding, front joint starting to split at top; rear hinge cracked, binding a bit shaken but holding, toning to interior, period ownership signatures at front; good.
