Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Middle Cauca, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A double-chambered anthropomorphic whistling vessel, of a beautiful form finished in red and white slip, the front section featuring a human head donning a white pointed helmet, its bulbous body perched upon two anthropomorphic feet (or hands), both lobes of the piece joined via a bridge handle with a short spout at the rear, and a hole behind the front head making the whistling sound possible. Size: 7.75" L x 4.375" H (19.7 cm x 11.1 cm)
