Charcoal drawing on wove paper, untitled figure study, attributed* to Lee Krasner (1908-1984). Signed lower right and dated '40. 14 5/8 x 10 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Unframed for inspection and post-auction shipping.
Provenance: Ralph Riley, Beverley Hills, CA (possibly acquired directly from the artist). Acquired by the former owner's father from Mr. Riley, circa 1970-80. Ralph Riley was a prominent collector and dealer of antiques and fine art, particularly modern and contemporary works. [See Pierre Berge & Associes, Paris, June 25, 2014, Lot 6, for a work we sold in July 2013 from the Ralph Riley collection. The work, a black and white ink drawing ascribed to Franz Kline, was subsequently sold to Marlborough Gallery and then at Pierre Berge for the sum of 50,000 Euros.]
