Charcoal drawing on inside page of sketchbook cover, field with haystacks, signed* (Claude Monet, 1840-1926). 5 1/4 x 7 inches. Very good condition overall. No apparent damage or repairs visible. Sold unframed.

Provenance: Property from a private family trust; later bequeathed to the current owner. It is believed that the present drawing was from the collection of Abel Lauvray, Claude Monet's neighbor. The drawing was subsequently acquired from Lauvray, together with a number of other drawings, by a Paris dealer, Andre Mavon, and then by the consignor's father, who purchased the drawing from Mavon. The consignor's father was a long time friend and client of Andre Mavon.
