Description
ENGLISH TRANSFER-PRINTED AGRICULTURAL VASE CERAMIC GRADUATED PLATTERS, LOT OF SEVEN, having six pattern variations in blue. All marked on back with printed "AGRICULTURAL / VASE / IMPROVED / GRANITE CHINA / RMW & Co" and also impressed with shield having "OPAQUE / GRANITE / CHINA" and "W.R. & Co". Ridgway, Morley, Wear & Co., Staffordshire, England. Around 1842. 8 5/8" x 6 3/8" to 17 1/4" x 12 3/4".
1/2" flake on rim of one, and one minute flake on underside of rim on largest, otherwise undamaged.

Catalogue Note: The "Agricultural Vase" pattern was based on the publication Canadian Scenery, first published in 1842, having illustrations made by William Henry Bartlett. Ridgway, Morley, Wear & Co. and various partnerships Morley formed through the 1840s appear to be the only manufacturers in Staffordshire printing these views.
