Description
ENGLISH TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC DRINKING ARTICLES, LOT OF FIVE, each having brown/sepia transfer, comprising three coffee pots including one example with Rural scene featuring cartouches including a woman raking hay, a boy with his dog, and a bird, one example with Mother and Child at Play pattern, and one with Archery scene to neck and possible French Scenery below, and two jugs/pitchers with "ABBEY / RUINS" #3 pattern, as printed to underside, depicting three horses amongst ruins. Additional marks to underside include printed lion with "T MAYER LONGPORT" below and an impressed heart. Thomas Mayer, Longport; Herculaneum, Liverpool; John Dawson & Co., Sunderland, England; and others. Mid 19th century. 11 1/2" HOA.

Each with minor to moderate imperfections including one jug with restoration to rim chip and remaining with moderate J-shaped crack to lower half; each coffee pot with imperfections including some having stapled repairs, old restoration, and Mother example with handle poorly reattached.
