ENGLISH HISTORICAL WORLD WAR I CHILDREN'S TOY CERAMIC TEA AND TABLE ARTICLES, LOT OF 33, including four graduated platters, teapot lacking cover, six saucers, one teabowl, five cups, and one tureen with undertray; all with polychrome designs of the allied flags for Belgium, Britain, Italy, France, and the Russian Navy, and a laurel wreath. Marked on the bottom of most with green "BISTO / ENGLAND". Together with one cover lacking base. 34 pieces total. Bisto China, Staffordshire, England. Circa 1920. Tureen 2 5/8" H.
One saucer with hairline and tureen with flake on cover, otherwise undamaged.
Provenance: From a North Carolina collection.
Catalogue Note: This design is likely based off of the "Liberty China" or "Liberty Ware" design by Lillian Gary Taylor and produced by Wedgwood during WWI. Lillian Gary Taylor developed the "Liberty China" shortly after the First World War began as fundraising for supporting Allied charities and to aid in the war efforts.
