Description
STAFFORDSHIRE SPODE TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC TABLE ARTICLES, LOT OF FIVE, each having blue transfer, comprising three examples from the Indian Sporting series including a rectangular 9 1/4" x 6 1/2" platter with "BATTLE BETWEN [sic] A / BUFFALO & A TIGER", as printed to underside, two ovoid undertrays including one with Composite Scene #1 depicting dogs chasing a rabbit, and one featuring "HUNTING A CIVET CAT", and two examples from the Caramanian series including a large square-form bowl with Colossal Sarcophagus Near Castle Rosso to exterior and Antique Fragments at Limisso to interior, and a low-form ovoid bowl with molded dolphin head handles, depicting Caramanian Animals scene including elephants and cattle. Marks to underside include impressed and printed "Spode" and various numerals. Spode, Stoke-on-Trent, England. First quarter 19th century. Bowl 4 5/8" HOA, 9 1/2" D rim.Â
