Description
[4] handwritten leaves of Torah thoughts said over the Admor of Gur, the "Beit Yisrael." Torah that he said at the festive evening meal of the seventh day of Passover, recorded by his disciple, chassid Ch. Mendil.Â
Torah ideas heard from the Admor regarding the ability to prepare food on the holiday; ideas from Rabbi Yosef Hoffman [who did not to eat matzot on Passover - other than the first night - out of concern that they were not baked correctly]; novellae from Rabbi Yechzkel of Kozmir; ideas from the Admor of Kotzk; Torah thoughts from the Besh"t; Torah novellae regarding fasting and self-afflictions, and more.
These "shmeussen" were never printed.
Rabbi Yisrael Alter [1895-1977] was the fifth Admor of Gur, known per the name of his work, the "Beit Yisrael." In 1948, after his father's death, he was appointed Admor. He administered to the chassidim of Gur that lived in Eretz Yisrael before the War andHolocaust survivors. He was also the president of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah.
