Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A small polychrome dog with red and black details on the face and, unusually, a wide-open, snarling mouth full of sharp teeth and a dangling tongue. Red and cream slip decorate the body in wide horizontal stripes. His bulging applied eyes project out from his face, and his tail curls up to sit on his back. Normally dogs in this culture are shown in docile, domesticated positions. Quite unusual to see a Jalisco Cujo! Size: 7.1" L x 2.4" W x 4.4" H (18 cm x 6.1 cm x 11.2 cm)
