Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hollow-molded brown-ware pottery dog effigy vessel, standing on all fours and carrying a vessel on its back. While most collectors of Pre-Columbian pottery are familiar with puppies coming from the Colima region, ceramic canines from Jalisco are relatively rare. The puppie's expressive visage shows a characteristically elongated snout, an open mouth with tongue hanging out as if panting, coffee-bean shaped eyes, pointy ears, and a perky tail. Size: 7.875" L x 4.5" W x 4.5" H (20 cm x 11.4 cm x 11.4 cm)
