Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE; Jalisco, ca. 250 BCE to 250 CE. A pair of ancient Mexican pottery effigy sculptures- a charming dog and reclining figure. The hand-built pottery Colima figure rests on a flat slab bed, perhaps a funerary plinth or a birthing table, the gender is ambiguous, covered by 2 straps, with relaxed limbs and head resting on a pillow. The adorable Jalisco pottery dog effigy has a long snout, impressed eyes, perky ears, rounded belly, and short tail, standing on four nubby legs. Size (bed figure): 3.6" L x 2.3" W (9.1 cm x 5.8 cm)
