Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery scene displaying a deceased female laying on her back with her head placed within a headrest. Her upper body is covered with thick textile strips with her lower arms barely poking out. A pair of small puppies flank both sides of her head in a characteristic mourning fashion. Custom wooden display stand included. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 3.25" W x 4.625" H (8.3 cm x 11.7 cm).

Condition
Heads of both dogs reattached with small nicks along break lines. Small losses to two corners, minor nicks to peripheries and figures, and light fading to some finer details. Light earthen deposits and nice manganese blooms throughout. Old inventory number beneath base.
