This lovely high polish early Savage was manufactured in 1911. Standard features include full round barrel, German silver knife blade front sight, Savage sporting rear sight, brass cartridge counter, walnut Schnabel forend, and straight grip walnut perch belly stock with rifle buttplate. These very early high polish examples are among the most desirable, and this example remains in fine condition. Barrel has about 98% of the original high polish factory blue with razor sharp legends and a few minor storage marks. The high polish factory blue frame retains more finish than just about any that we have seen; some minor high edge wear and a couple storage marks. Even the base of the frame has the majority of the high polish blue (usually the first to turn). Buttplate retains approximately 80% of the original factory high polish blue. Walnut stocks are near mint. Some brilliant colors still on lever. Strong, near mint, rifled bore. One of the finest condition early examples we have seen as of late.
