Aster Hobby Co. (est. 1975), Yokohama, Japan, Electric Gauge One SP GS-4 'Daylight' Cased Model Locomotive, c. 1990. 1:32 scale model of the Daylight #4449 locomotive and coach, with track, wooden case, and manual. Southern Pacific Railroad commissioned the original Daylight in 1941 for their coastal route between Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, through the Santa Lucia Mountains. It boasted fourteen custom Pullman cars painted orange, red, black, and silver, all pulled by a Lima Locomotive Works 'Superpower' 4-8-4, GS-class engine. Retired to Portland, Oregon, in 1957, the #4449 later powered the 'American Freedom Train' during the U.S. Bicentennial and traveled to the New Orleans World's Fair in 1984.
