Dated 1312 = 1895, 208 x 169 cm, South West Caucasus

In the blue field stand two red trees with perfectly straight trunks and large, grid-like crowns, their angular red branches hung with small yellow fruit. In the foreground, i.e. before the trees and partially overlapping them, two huge yellow snakes confront one another, hissing at each other with wide-open jaws. Two red dragons are depicted at the sides of the lower section of the field. The iconography of the field design is mysterious. The four-band border displays conventional Kazak motifs. – Signs of age and wear, several repiled areas. The outer border is missing at the lower end, somewhat reduced at the top. The original selvedges are present but repaired in places. Corroded brown.
