Serge Sedrac (1878-1974) Oil on Artist's Board "Eglise Madeleine Marche Aux Flowers" c. 1930-1940. With the artist's studio stamp en verso. Measures 22.50x19.25x1". Weight 4 pds. PROVENANCE: From the Private Paris, France and Charleston SC Collection of J. Marterer, author of Paris 201, the Winner of the Benjamin Franklin Awards - GOLD MEDAL (Travel) and Independent Publisher Awards - SILVER MEDAL (Travel). Serge (Agababoff/Agababian) Sedrac (1878-1974) was born in Tiflis, Georgia, to an Armenian family from the Caucasus. He initially studied in Moscow, then travelled to Paris to continue his education, where he met and married the daughter of Konstantin Egorovich Makovsky. He settled permanently in Paris in 1926. He was known for his landscapes and scenes of his native Georgia, Russia and France.
