A similar work can be found in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (AC1999.127.39).
This series and others executed in this important style have traditionally been given by scholars to the region of Malwa in Central India. The origin of many of these "Malwa" paintings can be pinpointed to the court of Orchha.
