Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A rare form of pottery figure from the West Mexican shaft tomb culture, in a style sometimes called "Chinesco". The figure has two heads, each one with a horn on it; on opposite sides of their heads are small appliques with incised decoration. Both wear earrings and have small faces with protuberant noses. The heads flow down into a single body, with two arms, which are holding a small bowl to their chest. Does this figure represent conjoined twins, or some abstract religious concept, story or figure? Comes with custom stand. Size: 3.95" W x 6" H (10 cm x 15.2 cm)
