Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery figure seated with widespread legs and balancing their upper body with both arms. Red bands and black stripes decorate the beige ground and imbue the figure with a wondrous presentation. Size: 2.8" W x 3.75" H (7.1 cm x 9.5 cm)

Condition
Restoration to right arm and most of left leg, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions, nicks, and fading to pigment commensurate with age. Nice remains of original pigment on body.
