Description
Akron, Ohio: Civil War Era Cartes-de-Visite Views. Group of seven CDVs by Gilbert Brothers of Akron (one not marked) that includes four street scenes, two views of Stow Pond and one panoramic view of the city taken from a distance. Gold-ruled borders, light to moderate toning. One view shows a large group of soldiers in dress formation, surrounded by private citizens, possibly representing a mustering-in ceremony. Other street scenes show shops & snow-covered streets, plus two different views of wagons filled with hay & produce in the town square. Three of these were taken from the same vantage point opposite Falk's Livery Stable. Excellent detail and clarity.
